Maggie wouldn’t tell you but she doesn’t hear well and you have to stand in front of her when you speak so she can read your lips. Most people appreciate this kind of interaction and like Maggie a lot as a result. And the thing about Maggie is that she actually listens. It is a loving effort for her to hear. When she talks, which isn’t very often, she will make you laugh with a bad joke. Like, “an old whiskery fish went up to three young fish one morning and said ‘how’s the water?’ and then swam away. The three young fish looked at each other all perplexed and one said ‘what the hell is water?’ ” Maggie has a button where her heart is and she will tell you it’s good luck to put your index finger on it and count to three."Written by Tessa Francesca
